"Last of the American Girls" Animated Music Video
Concept and Visual Style
For this project, I was tasked with creating a 45-second piece of 'visual poetry'. I decided that I wanted to create a short animated music video. I chose this song not just because it's one of my favorites, but because I had a strong visual direction in mind from the start.
The aesthetic of this project is plain and simple, punk rock. The visual style is directly inspired by the disheveled styles of bands like the Sex Pistols and the featured band Green Day, as well as the general punk flyers of various other bands/events. With a focus on grungy visuals with Dadaesque chaos and ransom note lettering, I wanted to create a world and narrative with a distinct visual style without losing the value of the words themselves.
